Went for a few Heineken’s at the Sebel many years ago. There was a Scottish barman that told great jokes. Had a beer and started having a chat with the the only other guy at the bar.
He was a Pom and I asked him what he was doing out here and he said at bit of work’ .
Anyway, great guy and we had about another six beers.
I asked him what sort of work and he replied ‘music’.
I asked what sort of music and he said ‘I’m Mark from Dire Straits’.
No word of a lie and I will never forget that magic moment, a brush with fame.

I wrote this many years ago, I don’t remember it all, but I called it the politicians remark, or something like that…
well. I suppose it’s similar. 
'she hangs the washing on the line
and pegs them with her tears
and wishes she could settle eye to eye
the politicians reply
and serve him at her table
a gracious amount of chips
and watch him in his wit and wisdom
squeeze the juice of her children
over the raw bone flesh of the fish
